CASE STUDY — IP GEOLOCATION API
92 links, branded anchors only and very little new content: a slow, steady campaign that grew a single-page website’s organic traffic about 5x.

IPWhois provides an IP geolocation API used by developers around the world. Its business runs through what is essentially a single-page website, with no large blog and no content team.
When we began, the site earned about 1,110 organic visits per month.
Most SEO case studies rely on heavy content production. This one could not, so most of the result came from the link profile itself.
All 92 backlinks were niche edits: links added to established articles on SaaS, hosting, e-commerce and business sites. Each placement was approved by the publisher’s editor, and our fee covered the outreach work and any placement fee the publisher charged. No PBNs, no directories.
The sites ranged from DR40 to DR93. That means some of these links sat below the DR 50+ range we quote on our service pages today.
With one page to rank and a brand to protect, we used branded anchor text only. That kept the anchor profile low-risk and built brand visibility in search results.
More than 15 placements went into posts that were already getting organic visitors, so they can send referral traffic as well as authority.
At an average of 4 links per month, the profile grew slowly and evenly. Traffic held roughly flat for the first few months, then climbed steadily for the rest of the campaign.

You do not need to publish 40 posts a month to grow. With a strong product and a patient link building plan, even a one-page website grew its organic traffic about 5x. Sites that also invest in content usually have more room to grow, as the Testsigma campaign shows.
Traffic, ranking-keyword, Domain Rating and referring-domain figures are Ahrefs estimates, measured at campaign start and end. Ahrefs traffic is a modelled estimate of organic visits, not the client’s own analytics, so treat the numbers as directional.
